One in four Americans aged 65+ falls each year.

Falls are the leading cause of fatal injury and the most common cause of nonfatal hospital admissions among older adults.

Every 11 seconds an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall; every 19 minutes an older adult dies from a fall.
Who is at risk for falls?
Adults older than 65 years of age suffer the greatest number of fatal falls. Risk factors include age, gender, co-morbidities, medications, environment, prior functional level, and availability of social supports.

How do Cronin Physical Therapy treatments decrease the risk for falls?
Ali provides treatment for physical impairments as well as education to modify non-physical risk factors. Examples of non-physical risk factors include home environment modification, medication education, assistive device assessment and training, caregiver training and referrals to other members of the medical team when indicated.

What does a typical Cronin Physical Therapy session include for fall management?
During each session, interventions may be performed to address balance, gait, strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, and motor control impairments using a variety of standardized testing and techniques, including the use of balance and resistance training equipment.
Where will the therapy take place and how long is each session?
Sessions are completed in the patient's home (or outdoors around the home) and Ali will bring all the equipment required. The initial evaluation is approximately 1 hour; subsequent treatment sessions are 50-60 minutes.
